A flyer with questionable advice on dealing with bullies wound up in the hands of Lincoln fifth-graders at Zemen Elementary.
Lincoln Public Schools issued an apology saying the flier contained inaccurate information on how to handle bullying situations.
The flyer in question offers some advice that includes not reporting the bullying and not verbally defending yourself.
Parents say the advice came as a big shock to them.
"It was the complete opposite of everything we've expected from LPS," said parent Ben Dinger. "It caused alarm right away when we heard it."
The school says the flyer was sent home with good intentions but does not reflect "best practices regarding response to bullying incidents."
