Man Who Lied About Classes Gets Prison

A Lincoln man who lied about college classes so he could get reimbursed by his employer has been sentenced to prison.

Federal prosecutors say 27-year-old Jay Allsman, was convicted of mail fraud, for using the U.S. Postal Service to submit his reimbursement requests to his employer, a subsidiary of U.S. Cellular. The company offered a reimbursement program for employees' undergraduate college expenses.

Prosecutors say Allsman's paperwork contained false statements about classes completed and class costs and included the forged signature of a supervisor.

Allsman was sentenced to 16 months in prison and must serve three years of supervised release when he leaves custody. He also was ordered to pay nearly $162,000 in restitution.
