Former Douglas County Republican Party chairman Brian Buescher announced Thursday he will run for attorney general of Nebraska.
“Nebraskans deserve an attorney general who will aggressively prosecute violent criminals, who will advocate against unlawful intrusions into their lives by the federal government, who will protect the unborn and who will fight to uphold our laws while respecting and fighting for the rights and liberties of our citizens,” said the Omaha attorney.
Lincoln attorney Mike Hilgers announced Wednesday he would run in the Republican primary. Other GOP candidates are Lincoln attorney Doug Peterson and Omaha state Sen. Pete Pirsch. Fremont attorney Janet Stewart is running unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Current Attorney General Jon Bruning announced earlier this month he would run for governor.
