Lincoln Fire Inspectors are working to determine what started a fire in an abandoned house.
Around 11:30 p.m. Monday a passerby called 911 to report smoke coming from a house near 22nd and P Streets. Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home.
Emergency crews didn't find anyone inside. But crews say the home is a common area for transient people to gather and whoever was inside may be responsible for sparking the flames.
The fire was contained to just a couple of rooms in the rear of the house and there was no structural damage due to the fire.
Fire Inspectors were called to the scene and are working to determine what the actual cause was.
Anyone with information about who was staying in the abandoned home should call Lincoln Crimestoppers at 402-475-3600.
