The city of Lincoln is ending its annual Christmas tree recycling program for the season.
Officials say residents have until Sunday to drop off trees at multiple locations around the city. Tree collecting began on Christmas.
Residents are encouraged to remove any plastic bags, nails, wires and tree stands from the tree before donating.
The collected trees will be ground into wood chips. The wood chip mulch will then be available to residents at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. The free mulch will be given away beginning Thursday.
