The Lincoln Electric System has received many reports of a scam in which a caller, posing as an LES employee, contacted business customers alleging they were delinquent on their electric bill. The caller urged customers to immediately supply their credit or debit card information over the phone for payment.
LES issued a reminder Friday that it will not solicit customers for bill payment or financial information through outbound phone calls, online or cold call customers to provide services.
