Officials are streamlining Lincoln's permit process so it will be easier for producers to film movies, commercials and other video products in the Capital City.
The changes should be finished in time for filmmaker Alexander Payne to shoot some scenes in the city for his new movie, which is tentatively titled "Nebraska."
Payne, who directed "About Schmidt," ''Sideways," and "The Descendants," says filming will begin next month.
The state film officer, Laurie Richards, says Lincoln's effort to change its permit process began before Payne announced his intent to film in the state. She says the changes are a result of suggestions from local producers who said Lincoln's film application process was more laborious than the processes in other communities.
