The Nebraska State Girls Basketball Tournament is heating up in Lincoln, and that means thousands of people from all across the state are flocking to the capital city.
The new Pinnacle Bank Arena is hosting the girls and boys tournaments this week and next. The Lincoln Visitors Bureau says putting the arena in the Haymarket has created a whole new environment for basketball fans.
"The neat thing is, [fans] walk out of [the arena] and they can't wait to go out into the community to spend money," said Jeff Maul with the Visitors Bureau.
The city expects to rake in $5 to $6 million during the tournaments. Those are similar numbers to what they saw when the tournament was held at the Devaney Center.
