A group of Papillion-La Vista students got to take their classroom outside on Wednesday.
The kids are enjoying the forest at the Nebraska 4-H camp in Gretna for two days, but there is an educational purpose to the trip.
“They don't realize it but they are soaking in data and impressions as they are walking down the trail and it's cool to be able to work with them back in the classroom and you recall what was it like when you stepped into the forest,” said coordinator Ann Danner. “All those things that you can't really do in the classroom. One of the things that they take back with them is that they can do it. A lot of youngsters don't realize what they can do, if they tell themselves ‘I can.’"
Students analyzed parts of the forest and tracked data, information they can use in science class.
