Young minds from Phoenix Academy were inspired by a special guest at a luncheon Tuesday morning.
At a scholarship luncheon, former First Lady Laura Bush came to speak to the crowd.
With the event, the academy was trying to raise money to help support those students who couldn't attend otherwise.
Bush was there to endorse the school, saying it led to success in education for the kids.
"What you're raising money for today are scholarships, a literacy scholarship, so that young people all over Nebraska will have the chance if they're behind to be able to catch up by coming to the Phoenix academy," Bush said.
The academy's faculty and staff were very excited to hear Bush approve of their work.
"To have somebody like Laura Bush to come, and to stand next to Phoenix academy, it's just mind-blowing. It really does make me feel that Phoenix academy is doing the right thing," said Kate Bender, of Phoenix Academy.
After Bush's speech, several Phoenix students got to have a question and answer session with the former First Lady.
