Last Weekend Of Shopping Until Christmas

The clock is ticking...it's only a week until Christmas.

Since the holiday falls on a Saturday, that means stores should be packed this weekend.

So how is your shopping going?

"Everybody's been out they've been doing their thing and it seems like everybody's willing to spend a little money," Brad Diers, Manager of the K-Mart Superstore at 50th and L said.

At many stores, it's beginning to feel a little claustrophobic as the final shopping push gains momentum.

"Its going to do nothing but build from here on out and I expect today and really this weekend to begin driving the business for the next seven days or so," Diers said.

Delphine Marez is far from a last minute shopper.

"I did some shopping on Black Friday," she said. "But the majority of shopping for the adults has just happened the last couple of days."

And she's not done yet.

"I like to power shop towards the end," she said. "I won't be done until Christmas Eve."

She takes her time but no longer goes shopping with her husband.

"It was a chore for him because he knew I like to go from store to store and not him," she said. "He knows what he wanted he went in and got it and that's it."

Gabriel Vega and his sister Susana shop together even though their styles are different.

"When I get shoes I know what size," he said. "I know exactly what I want. I go in for maybe 10 to 15 minutes. My wife goes in for one pair of shoes and it's two or three hours. It's not nice...especially when I am bored."

"All the time he's pushing me," Susane Vega chuckled. "Hurry up we have to go home right now. But we enjoy to spend money together."

"When you are a very good shopper you have to spend time and a lot of money and I don't have enough money and I don't like to lose time. That's the way it is," Gabriel said.

And as the big day gets closer, expect to see more guys wandering the aisles.

"We're just procrastinators," Diers said. "We wait until the last minute and it kind of shows because the day we get to Christmas Eve the building is packed with men."
