Lancers Players Pack Food Bags For Needy Kids

We're in the middle of the holiday season and a reminder that tomorrow is Giving Tuesday.

Players from the Omaha Lancers hockey team got a head start on Giving Tuesday.

The team gathered Monday morning at Completely Kids at 26th and St. Mary's Ave. to pack food supplies for nearly 400 area kids.

Each bag has 20 food items of things that kids like to eat. They are intended to be supplemental foods for kids in need.

It was an eye opening experience for the players as well.

"Nobody ever sees what people go through and all that it's a tough situation and whenever our team can give's huge," UNO recruit Jake Randolph said.

"A lot of us come from maybe a different background so for us, I don't know if we all realize exactly how other people live sometimes, so it's real eye opening, I think," team captain and North Dakota recruit Tucker Poolman said.

Completely Kids serves nearly 2,300 school-aged kids around the metro area.
