The first time they were together everything clicked. Three women from the Omaha Metro who started small businesses found they have a lot in common.
"Women have barriers that are unique," said Rachelle McGuigan in an interview with Channel 6 News. McGuigan is a physical therapist who opened Infinity Wellness.
She has joined forces with Beka Doolittle who owns The Pink Store.Com, and Leslie Fischer who also has an online business called TAGG, which is designed to benefit businesses and charities through donations.
Beka Doolittle said, "Everybody's business is different, but we have the commonality I guess, as entrepreneurs, moms and wives."
It's the difficulty of managing all of those things that makes their time together so productive.
"It's that experience of having our own business, and it was just so therapeutic for us," said McGuigan. "We want to give to other people as well."
Together the three of them formed "Ladies Who Launch," a support group that is open to all business minded women.
The first meeting is 5:30pm Tuesday September 17, 2013 at Clancy's near 114th and Dodge.
Leslie Fischer described the response as huge. "We started in the smallest room and have upgraded twice now, so we will be in their largest room. We now have 90 people who have indicated they are coming."
And even though the room will be full, others are welcome and the organizers say if it gets too crowded they will happily accept that problem.
"As a woman, as a mom, as a wife and starting a business, you really are not prepared," said Doolittle.
Fischer added, "there really is a fear I think that women have of starting their own business."
It helps to have connections," said McGuigan. "So making those connections are really important and that's what we want to provide."
