La Vista City Councilman Anthony Gowan announced at Tuesday night’s meeting that he will be resigning his Ward IV seat effective immediately.
Gowan, last elected in 2012, has served on the City Council since 2002. He said he resigned because he will be moving from the area to take care of family.
“It has been a pleasure to serve with Tony as elected officials,” said Mayor Douglas Kindig. “While I hate to lose him from our City Council, I know he is resigning for the right reasons. I wish him the best in the future and hope he will stay involved in our community.”
The City Council will declare the Ward IV seat vacant at its May 20th meeting and Mayor Kindig will make a recommendation for a replacement to the City Council by June 3rd.
Applications for the Ward IV vacancy can now be obtained from the City’s website, cityoflavista.org/citycouncil or at City Hall, 8116 Park View Boulevard.
