Knicely Done: Rachael's Gift To Others

Rachael Johnson has a gift and she's sharing it at Quality Living Inc in Omaha even though her own circumstances are difficult.

"I've always just wanted to do something where I can connect with people on a deep level," she explained in an interview with WOWT 6 News.

At age 20, Rachael is rebuilding her life after a horrible car accident just over a year ago.

"I'm a C-5 complete quadriplegic, that's how it is."

Through a lot of hard work, Rachael has progressed with noticeable improvements.

"I got some wrist movement back that I wasn't sure I would get. And for many months I was in my power wheelchair that I used to get around because my arms weren't strong enough. Now I can push this one, so that's one thing I'm really proud of."

And in spending an afternoon at QLI it was clear that Rachael has a positive impact on others facing similar difficulties. She seems to have a bright cheery greeting for everyone she sees along with words of encouragement.

She recently was asked by QLI, which specializes in brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation, to serve as an official mentor and she's featured in a showcase video on QLI.

"It's like a drop of water in a pond," she explained. "It just ripples outward, so if I can just cause one outward ripple for someone else to be a positive influence for another person, then it's like a never ending thing, that's what I think about every day."

Knicely Done!
