On Saturday, six metro kids will compete inside the Woodmen of the World Tower for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands Youth of the Year award.

The National Youth of the Year Program is designed to promote and recognize service to Club and community, academic performance and contributions to family and spiritual life. Competition begins with each Club selecting a Youth of the Year who receives a certificate and medallion, and then represents their Club at the organizational level competition.

At the competition, six young individuals will share their life stories of trial and triumph to compete for the title of Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands (BGCM) Youth of the Year, an honor making them the most distinguished among over 5,000 area BGCM members. Each candidate currently holds the title of their respective Club’s Youth of the Year.

The Midlands Youth of the Year champion will compete to win the Nebraska State title, Midwest Regional Title and National Title where contestants receive a special visit and congratulations from the President of the United States.
