Kennel Closed For Lack Of License And Permits

A dog kennel recently opened in the old Ralston Keno building with zero permits and state kennel license. On Tuesday, Ralston police served a search warrant and find 40 dogs.

Ralston police chief Ron Murtaugh said, "We're looking to see the sanitary conditions, whether or not there's running water what kind of kennels and living conditions are inside."

The building is relatively clean for so many breeds of dogs in the same areas. Smaller dogs in one part larger in another. All have owners who paid to board their pets for the weekend or just for the day.

Ralston Public Works Director Dan Freshman said, "You know they have no facilities in there for taking care of that many animals."

But several dog owners called by the Humane Society to pick up their dogs are confident the kennel owners were taking care of their pets.Michelle Robinson told Fact Finders about her small dog, "He loves coming here every day. There's absolutely no problem, I have no complaint."

The kennel is associated with Pawz Pet Services. Owner Nicole Busey told Fact Finders the lack of a state kennel license and city permits was a misunderstanding. She plans to be at Ralston City Hall first thing to try to obtain a city permit. She hopes the state will grant her a kennel license too.
