A work release inmate who Lincoln police say was spotted leaving the scene of a burglary last week is back in custody after a medical emergency put him in the hospital.
The Lincoln Journal Star says 21-year old Nathaniel Atkinson was found at an apartment early Monday. Police say officers and emergency crews were responding to a medical emergency at the apartment, which resulted in Atkinson being hospitalized.
Police says citations are pending when he's released.
Atkinson was on furlough from Lincoln Community Corrections when he was allegedly seen leaving the scene of a house burglary last Wednesday. Police tried to stop him, but they ended a short vehicle pursuit for safety reasons.
Atkinson was to report to the work release center last Thursday.
He was serving a 16 month sentence for felony attempted burglary and felony theft by unlawful taking. He was scheduled to be considered for parole November 27 this year.
