Drug and Forgery Cases bring jail time.
A 20-year-old Union woman was sentenced to 90 days in the Cass County Jail. Melissa N. Nienaber had pled guilty two months ago to a Class I Misdemeanor of attempted possession of a controlled substance—methamphetamine. The plea was part of an agreement in which a felony charge was amended. About three weeks ago, Nienaber completed a 180-day sentence for a drug-related charge in Lancaster County.
The Cassgram reports a 25-year-old former Plattsmouth resident received an 18-month probationary sentence on a Class I Misdemeanor. Kayla Pierce had originally been charged with felony forgery but the charge was amended in exchange for her guilty plea. The prosecution said Pierce, who now lives in Iowa, wrote checks totaling about $350 on checks that a former roommate had left behind. Pierce has made restitution on the checks to a grocery store and the Plattsmouth city utility department.
