An inmate at the Gage County jail has died after taking his own life. Sheriff Millard “Gus” Gustafson says Chad Gesin was found to have attempted to take his life in the early hours of July 4. Gesin died Tuesday night, five days later at a hospital in Lincoln.
Because of the wishes of Gesin’s family, arrangements were made to have his organs donated for transplant. County Attorney Roger Harris has ordered an autopsy and will have a grand jury investigate the death since Gesin was in custody at the time of his death.
The report did not indicate why Gesin was lodged at the jail.
