The ice is ready and skaters are lacing them up.
The ice rink at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is now open.
The outdoor rink is just north east of the intersection of 42nd and Emile.
This marks the fourth season for the ice rink.
Mike Madison not only drives the zamboni to get the ice ready, he's also the rink's manager.
He started preparing the rink for today's opening on november 10th.
"The weather hurt us quite a bit at the beginning we had a couple of hot days which totally destroyed the ice so it was pretty much starting over from scratch and it took a lot of time," he said. "My family was not very happy for how much time it took to get done."
Entry fee is $5, skate rental is an additional $2.
There are season passes as well.
The rink will stay open through March 1st.
