The National Weather Service continues the heat advisory through Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures once again on Tuesday will rise to the upper 90s however high humidity will make it feel like 105 to 110 degrees.
The Cassgram reports the Plattsmouth Fire Department purchased equipment of a disbanded dive team. There are no immediate plans to start its own team though.
The Lewis Township Dive Team had responded to many water rescue situations in its 40 years of existence but saw a downturn in call numbers in recent years with an Omaha dive team available.
The equipment, including boats and trailers, scuba gear, underwater communicators, etc., went for up for sale. The price was quite reasonable and the Plattsmouth department decided to use previously donated funds to make the purchase.
In a discussion session with the Plattsmouth City Council, fire chief Mike Wilson said that since there is only one body of water within the city limits—the city pond near the community center—the newly purchased boat equipment costs such as insurance and maintenance will ultimately be paid by the rural fire district.
