A Sherrill woman has been given five years in prison, convicted of trying to hire someone to kill her ex-husband.
Elizabeth Behnke had been charged with attempted murder. Last month Behnke made an Alford plea to a charge of solicitation to commit murder. Under an Alford plea, the 45-year-old Behnke didn't admit guilt but agreed that evidence likely existed for a conviction.
Behnke was sentenced on Monday.
Authorities say Behnke had been wrangling with her ex-husband
over a child-custody issue. She was accused of trying to hire someone to break into his home and pour homemade poison into a jug of his milk.
The "hit man" was an undercover officer.
