Iowa Soldiers Wounded In Afghanistan

Three Soldiers are in a Guard unit from Iowa City. The fourth wounded soldier is from a unit out of Waterloo. The incident happened while they were conducting combat operations in Laghman Province.

The soldiers are identified as:
-- 1st Lt. Nicholas R. Morris, 26, of Columbia, S.C.
-- Staff Sgt. Daniel J. Wilczak, 40, Luther, Iowa
-- Sgt. Martin C. Ennor, 25, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
-- Pvt. 1st Class Tyler M. Sirovy, 26, Deep River, Iowa

All of the men were initially taken to medical facilities in Afghanistan. Sgt. Ennor has since been evacuated to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for additional medical treatment.

The news release from the Guard said conditions and injury reports were unavailable as of midday on Friday.

Approximately 2,800 Soldiers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team were deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, in July and August 2010.

Their mission is to provide full-spectrum operations in a combat theater, including lethal and non-lethal capabilities, support to Afghan National Army and Police units and assistance to humanitarian relief initiatives.
