A man was taken to a hospital after his car ran off a road in eastern Iowa and crashed into a quarry where it became submerged in water.
The Scott County sheriff's office says the accident happened
early Wednesday morning on Great River Road near LeClaire when a
car driven by Justin Gill went off the road.
The car traveled more than 200 feet before hitting a telephone pole and spun around, sliding backward into the water.
Authorities say the car sank about 30 feet from shore.
Gill was able to get out of the car and swim to shore. He was
taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening
