A man accused of setting the fires that damaged a church in Burlington earlier this year is asking the judge in his case to appoint a new attorney for him.

Published reports reveal that 43-year-old Victor Clegg Jr. told District Court Judge Cynthia Danielson on Monday that he is not receiving proper
representation from his current court-appointed attorney. Clegg
also said his current attorney refereed to him as a "firebug."

Danielson is considering Clegg's request for a new attorney.

Clegg has been charged with second-degree arson and
second-degree burglary in the April 16 fire at Union Baptist
