Coaches remain Iowa's best-paid employees, with Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz leading the way.
The Des Moines Register reports Ferentz tops the 2010 data released by the Iowa Department of Administrative Services on Monday with a salary of nearly $3.3 million
His pay doesn't include endorsements or money he makes from other commitments. Money generated by the athletics department pays for Ferentz's contract.
Former Iowa men's basketball coach Todd Lickliter, who was fired in March, ranks second at $1.7 million. Iowa
State football coach Paul Rhoads is next at $1 million, followed by ISU men's basketball coach Greg McDermott, at nearly $715,000.
Gov. Chet Culver's $130,000 salary ranked him as the 1,333rd-best-paid employee. The database doesn't reflect his voluntary return of 10 percent of his salary during across-the-board cuts.
