The Marshals service has joined the search for the man.
The hunt has ranged as far away as Salt Lake City, where his van was found last week. The service is offering a $3,500 reward.
Des Moines police say the children were removed from the parents' custody earlier this year. The mother has been charged with neglect.
Authorities say the family had been living in a game store the father opened in Des Moines.
