A teenage girl died Friday afternoon after being hit by a freight train in the southwest Iowa community of Stanton.
Montgomery County Emergency Management reports a Burlington Northern Santa Fe crew reported hitting the girl just before 5:30 p.m. at a railroad crossing on the southern edge of Stanton, located about seven miles east of Red Oak.
The girl's name has not been released.
