Iowa State To Remember Journalism Professor

Several memorials will be held for Iowa State University journalism professor and lawyer Barbara Mack, who died in her Des Moines home.

Mack died on Aug. 23. The university said she suffered from unspecified health problems. She was 59.

No funeral services will be held.

Family spokeswoman Diane Graham says a memorial will be held Sept. 9 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines. Other observances will be held during the ISU-Tulsa football game on Saturday and on campus on Sept. 7.

Mack graduated from ISU, and earned her law degree from Drake University. She joined the faculty in the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communications in 1986 after working as general counsel for The Des Moines Register. She also worked as an aide to former ISU President Martin Jischke.
