The operator of an Iowa City pet day care has been cited for animal cruelty and permit violations.
Authorities found a dozen dogs at Deb Danielson's home late last month after one of the dogs had escaped through a hole in a fence on Danielson's property.
Officers found seven of the dogs were being kept outside without shelter and in unsanitary conditions, including excessive feces.
Misha Goodman is director of the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center. She says most of the dogs were owned by people who were paying Danielson and her Critter Care operation to care for their pets.
Danielson didn't immediately return a call Wednesday. Online court records don't list the name of her attorney.
