A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for areas west of Omaha until 11 p.m.; however, the metro area will likely have thunderstorms on and off throughout the overnight.
The Iowa State Board of Education has set minimum scores on a pair of national tests for prospective Iowa teachers.
The Gazette reports that the test takers will have to score in at least the 25th percentile on each test.
The rule adopted by the board on Wednesday is part of the education reform package passed by the Legislature earlier this year.
The new rule takes effect for education students who will graduate in spring 2013. The test scores don't affect candidacy for an education degree but must be achieved by anyone wishing to gain an Iowa teaching certificate.
New rules are being developed for people with out-of-state teaching certificates who wish to teach in Iowa.
