Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is asking President Obama for a disaster declaration covering nine counties including some in the metro area.
He’s requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration for areas that took wind, hail and rain damage from thunderstorms on June 3rd and 4th.
The governor’s office says it’s possible that more requests will be made for additional counties.
There are some areas where the flood waters have not fully subsided and full county-level damage assessments are still in progress.
The counties included are Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Mills, Montgomery, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Taylor and Wayne.
