The Iowa attorney general's office wants to shut down a state-launched website that allows the public and law enforcement to search for breath alcohol tests, citing concerns over trial publicity laws.
The request was made on Wednesday. Criminalist Jim Bleskacek of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says the attorney general's office asked the agency to temporarily shut down the website as officials talk with county attorneys on how to address the situation.
Bleskacek says he learned of the matter on Tuesday, and the site was taken down by the afternoon. He says he didn't know when it may be up again.
The website allows searches for breath alcohol test results, certification records on breath test machines and officers' alcohol training status.
