Christopher Umberger filed the petition in Orlando against Anthony, who was acquitted earlier this month of killing her daughter, Caylee.
Anthony is set to be released from jail on Sunday.
Umberger said in the court filing that he intends to sue Anthony for Caylee's death. He provided no details to back up his claim.
The petition was made public as a separate hearing was held to determine if Anthony can be deposed for a defamation lawsuit before she leaves jail.
