A man injured in a crash near Weeping Water a month ago dies in the hospital.
The Cassgram reports that Marshall L. Jeffrey, 54, of Otoe was northbound in his 1989 Ford Crown Victoria when a deer entered the roadway on Highway 50 just north of Hobscheidt Road, said Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann. Jeffrey swerved to try to avoid the animal but still struck the deer. Jeffrey's evasive-action attempt caused him to lose control and spin into the southbound lane, into the path of a southbound pickup, said the report. The pickup driver was not seriously injured.
The accident happened at 5:45am on February 16th.
Jeffrey was pinned inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by Weeping Water Fire. Jeffrey was flown by LifeNet to Creighton University Medical Center. He died there this week.
