Bond was set at $500,000 Thursday for the man shot by police during a foot chase last month. Deandre Crittenden was formally charged Wednesday following his release from the hospital.
The 30-year-old Crittenden was charged with first-degree attempted assault on an officer, use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
Officers on patrol in the area of North 44th and Pratt streets on November 21st heard gunshots and stopped a suspicious vehicle at 44th and Ruggles. As soon as the SUV pulled over, the driver got out and ran. Police say the suspect, later identified as Crittenden, had a gun in his hand.
During the pursuit, officers ordered Crittenden to drop the gun, which he did, but when he picked it up and pointed it at police, Officer Paul Hasiak opened fire.
Officers Hasiak and Eric Meads, who were involved in the chase, were placed on administrative leave. After an investigation by the Douglas County Attorney's Office found the shooting was justified, both were returned to duty.
