Increase In Retail Sales


Increase in retail sales south of the metro. The annual compilation from the Nebraska Department of Revenue shows Cass County with a 0.6% increase when 2012 is compared to 2011. The 2012 Net Taxable Sales Report put the county retail sales at $108,762,938.

The Cassgram reports the previous five years showed a 1.6% increase in 2011, a 1.5% increase in 2010, a 1.5% decrease in 2009, a 0.1% increase in 2008, and a 0.2% increase in 2007.)

2012 retail sales in Plattsmouth were 4.4% more than in 2011. The city’s retail sales totaled $53,024,768.

(Reports from the previous five years for the city showed a 0.9% increase in 2011, a 1.3% decrease in 2010, a 3.2% decrease in 2009, a 2.8% decrease in 2008, and a 2.2% drop in 2007.)

Statewide in 2012, retail sales were up 4.2%.

The taxable sales changes in 2012 compared to 2011 in neighboring counties: Otoe [+7.9%], Lancaster [+5.4%], Saunders [+2.0%] and Sarpy [+17.8%].

The ‘12 to ‘11 comparisons from some area cities: Bellevue [+3.8%], Papillion [+40.8%], Ashland [-0.2%], Nebraska City [+5.7%] and Syracuse [+3.2%].

---Cass County recorded a 10.9% increase last year in the NDR’s Annual Motor Vehicle Sales Comparison Report with sales totaling $55,812,511.

(That compares to the 4.8% and 4.9% increases recorded in 2011 and 2010 respectively.)

Statewide, vehicle sales were up 8.8% in 2012 when compared to 2011.
