Impact One Confident in Chief

One of the reasons the Omaha police chief gave for welcoming Cops to the city was to help to build better relationships with the community. One community organization believes the current police chief is well on his way to doing that and he should get the benefit of the doubt.

After the shots had been fired, after the yellow tape had been stretched out, Impact One program manager Barbara Robinson showed up on the scene and saw the end results.

She said, “My heart was, ‘Oh my God another body - another person shot lying in the middle of the ground.’ When I seen him handcuffed I figured it had something to do with officers.”

Robinson says it was a sad thing to see. She is tired of seeing the results of any type of violence but she has faith in the police chief and won’t pass judgment until his investigation is complete.

She said, “One thing I ve learned is that I can trust what Chief Schmaderer says. Chief Schmaderer will be truthful whether his officers are in the right or the wrong. So I'm waiting to hear from him before I develop my opinion on all of this that's happened. Right now I feel it's a very sad situation.”

Impact One is a grass roots organization dealing with issues in North Omaha.
