As temperatures rise the ice melts causing ice jams and flooding along rivers.
The parking lots for the Quality Inn and Arby's restaurant on Highway 281 near the Interstate 80 interchange in Grand Island filled with water Saturday.
"This happens quite a bit, especially in the spring and it just floods quite a bit," said Arby's supervisor Austin Remm. "It usually blocks off our drive-thru. We never flood inside the building though, so it never gets too bad. The gas station attendant was worried about the underground supply of fuel and if it gets in there, they'd have some problems so they're probably more worried about it than we are."
Remm said the flooding doesn't hurt business, it actually increases as people flock to the parking lot to see it.
