ID Theft Victim Offers Insight


It's been eight years since a co-worker stole Jaimee Napp's identity and Napp is still dealing with the hassle.

In an interview with Channel 6 News, Napp said, "I think it will affect me for the rest of my life."

The thief was actually caught and prosecuted shortly after Napp discovered her personal information was compromised but she said, "This long later I don't know where the information is, I don't know if she still hast it, I don't know if she will ever use it again."

For that reason Jaimee checks her credit reports every year and actually placed a freeze on her credit with the three agencies.

With that in place, a new account cannot be opened in Jaimee's name without her permission.

"You can do it online now which is great and for Nebraska consumers it's really cheap," she said. "Three dollars per credit bureau, so it's not very expensive."
