TD Ameritrade Park in downtown Omaha is hosting the Big Ten Baseball Tournament and the Huskers provided the opening day fireworks with a rally in the bottom of the ninth for a 7-6 win over Ohio State.
It was rise-and-shine early on Wednesday for Diana and Jeff Roper. Michigan State and Illinois got things started at 9 a.m. and the Ropers had just made a nine hour drive for the game.
Their sons are the second and third basemen for Illinois.
Jeff said, “It's definitely a place where every kid dreams of playing. So to get a chance to come to this field and play, and our team experience this and the Big Ten Tournament, it’s a blessing. And we feel very blessed to be here."
Michigan State won that game, 2-1. Other games on tap for Wednesday included Indiana, a 5-2 winner over Iowa and Minnesota vs. Michigan in the nightcap.
