Nebraska is back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008. The Huskers (40-19) will play at noon Friday in the Stillwater Regional against Cal State Fullerton (32-22) of the Big West Conference, it was announced Monday.
The game will be televised on ESPNU.
Big 12 regular-season champion and host Oklahoma State (45-16) plays Binghamton (25-25) of the America East Conference. Winners of the double-elimination regionals advance to the best-of-three super regionals with those winners moving to the College World Series in Omaha.
Nebraska finished second in the Big Ten in the regular season and lost Sunday to Indiana in the conference tournament championship game for the second straight year.
The Huskers will be making their 13th appearance in the national tournament. They're 31-25 all-time in the tournament and reached the College World Series in 2001, 2002 and 2005.
Oregon State is the No. 1 national seed. The Division I Baseball Committee made the Pac-12 champion Beavers (42-12) the top seed over SEC regular-season winner Florida (40-21). The other six national seeds are Virginia, Indiana, Florida State, Louisiana-Lafayette, TCU and LSU.
Oregon State starts the tournament Friday in Corvallis, Oregon against Summit League champion North Dakota State. UC Irvine and UNLV also are in the Corvallis regional.
Three teams with losing records are in the tournament after winning conference tournament titles. They are Youngstown State (16-36), Siena (25-31) and Bethune-Cookman (26-31).
The 68th Men’s College World Series begins June 14th at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
