With the Husker’s first home game over Labor Day weekend, on September 3rd, there are a number of highway improvement and interstate widening projects in progress across the state.

The Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) and highway contractors will work to minimize lane closures on home game weekends.

Interstate widening continues on I-80 from Lincoln east to the I-80 Mahoney Interchange, at the Platte River. I-80, from 56th Street in Lincoln to the Mahoney Interchange, is open to two lanes in both directions, with a reduced speed limit for construction.

Farther west on I-80, projects are underway from Wood River at MM 299 to the Giltner Interchange at MM 325. All lanes will be open to traffic with reduced speeds.

The Highway 77 Bypass in Lincoln from Interstate 80 to the junction of Salt Valley Roadway and West Van Dorn will be open to two lanes in each direction, with a reduced speed limit. Work continues on construction of a roundabout at the intersection at Highways 103 and 6, west of Lincoln, with a marked detour.
