A renewable energy system designed and built by a group of UNL students and former students on behalf of the World Energy Project was installed this week at a school in Kapkemich, Kenya.

Chris Lander of Omaha and Casey Heier and Kyle Curry of Columbus, Nebraska worked on the project, which will save St. Anne's around $2,800 a year on electric bills, enough to hire new teachers, buy computers and award more scholarships.

The school experienced 20 days of blackouts in July. Students will now have computer and Internet access all day every day and lights to study by at night.
