A local organization, Kids Against Hunger, has prepared 10,000 meals ready for transport to New Jersey.
The organization contacted pastor Jon Haizlip of One Life Church in Plattsmouth and told him that they do not have money to cover the shipping cost. So with church member help, two vehicles and trailers will be leaving Omaha December 2 to transport the meals.
An online mileage calculator indicates that the vehicle only, without a trailer, would cost $309 to make the trip.The cost for each of the two vehicles to be $500 each way.
The church is raising money to help fund the hurricane relief effort.
