A prepaid honeymoon came to a worrisome end when the groom learned he could be stranded in Central America. Fortunately, he got home to Omaha, but not without paying a high price.

“It was great.” Like most newlyweds, Rachel and Bryson Twist didn't want their honeymoon in Costa Rica to end, but that didn't mean leaving the groom behind. “They had no record of me needing to come back,” said Bryson.

“They said you have a ticket, but your husband doesn't, so I didn't know if I was going home alone or not.”

The Twists prepaid honeymoon booked through Unforgettable Honeymoons included round-trip airfare with tickets there on U.S. Airways and back on American Airlines.

Imagine the newlyweds’ panic when minutes before the flight from Costa Rica was to leave, the counter agent tells Bryson the ticket he prepaid for can't be found. The couple had to buy another one-way ticket back to Nebraska that with fees cost nearly $1,200.

Unforgettable Honeymoons said it didn't make any mistake, that it was the airlines that dropped the ball. For weeks, the Twists have been seeking a refund for the unexpected one-way ticket they had to buy. “It is a lot of money and we've just kind of gotten stonewalled everywhere we've gone,” said Rachel.

Fact Finders forwarded the couples’ confirmation to U.S. Airways and American Airlines to investigate the mix-up. “We're lucky we had enough on our credit card to get us back, otherwise I'm in a foreign country without knowing the language and not knowing when I was going to get back,” said Bryson.

The Twists hoped one or the other airline involved would provide a refund, so the extra cost of the unforgettable honeymoon could be forgotten. “It was a great time down there, just not a very fun end,” said Bryson.

After Fact Finders contacted U.S. Airways and American Airlines, the travel agent said the cost of the original ticket would be refunded. That's close to $900, but remember, for the groom to get home the couple had to buy a more expensive one-way ticket. Unforgettable Honeymoons will pay the additional $300 to make up the difference.
