Plattsmouth city council the amount of time a half block of South 4th Street will be closed to traffic to three days. The original request from the Plattsmouth Main Street Association to the Plattsmouth City Council was for the street, which doubles as the Entertainment Plaza, to be closed from now until January 4th. The closing will now only be December 6th-8th according to teh Cassgram
The decision Monday night to limit the street closing to three days came after council members learned the only event scheduled for the plaza is on Friday, December 7th. Main Street Association manager Charles Jones said there were plans for a large Christmas tree and other decorations to be placed in the plaza, and there could possibly be some additional outdoor activities there although they had not been confirmed.
Council members also had concerns that business owners in that area had not been contacted and asked for their input about the extended closing.
The Christmas tree will be put up soon and be placed somewhere other than the middle of South 4th Street.
