A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for areas west of Omaha until 11 p.m.; however, the metro area will likely have thunderstorms on and off throughout the overnight.
If the allegations are true, one might call 33-year old Jeremy Hammel a turkey for what happened on the early hours of Thanksgiving. Police booked him for felony DUI, flight to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and following too closely.
Officers were called to the area of 102nd & Maple about 2:30 a.m. to investigate a hit & run. The victim was not hurt. Officers were told that the suspect vehicle, a silver SUV, was last seen going eastbound from the scene.
An officer found a tan 2004 Dodge Durango a short time later heading north from 90th & Maple Street. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop at 94th & Sprague but the driver just kept going. A pursuit was initiated. The chase ended near 94th & Ames and Hammel was placed under arrest.
