Hit & Run arrest.
Cass County Sheriff William C. Brueggemann says a Dodge Caravan taxi driven by Michael Timerman, age 58, Plattsmouth, was transporting a male juvenile customer into the Omaha area Sunday evening about 6:30pm and was northbound on Highway 50. The Caravan was then struck by a westbound pickup which ran the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 1. The pickup fled the scene.
The Cassgram reports The collision caused the van to spin and roll landing upright in the northeast ditch of the intersection. The juvenile passenger was transported by Weeping Water Rescue to the Nebraska Medical Center. Timerman had to be extricated from the van and was airlifted by Mercy Medical Helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center.
Brueggemann says the driver of the truck, a 1993 Chevy 1500, was Andrew L. Zeorian, age 28, Murdock, who called an off duty Cass County deputy to confess. Zeorian was apprehended in Murdock and taken back to the accident scene where he was also transported to the Nebraska Medical Center by Weeping Water Rescue.
Zeorian was medically cleared at the hospital and then booked into the Cass County Jail on suspicion of several charges that include leaving the scene of an injury accident, driving under the influence - 3rd offense, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs while causing an injury accident, resisting arrest, and obstructing a peace officer. Zeorian was also charged with several traffic violations, says Brueggemann.
Both Timerman and the juvenile remained in the Nebraska Medical Center this morning, said a sheriff’s office report.
